SAUL BASS research

In this section I will be looking at a range of title sequence designers, and the work they created. This will inform the work I will be creating.

I will start by looking at Saul Bass. Saul bass was born on the 8th May 1920 in New York City and died 25th April 1996 in Los Angeles. Saul Bass was an American graphic designer and academy award winning filmmaker, best known for his design of motion picture title sequences, film posters and corporate logos.

He done posters like The Shinning, Such Good Friends, The Two of Us and lots more.

I like the way the poster are put together without actually using a computer and I like the way he uses only two or three colours in his poster but its creates an good effect.

Saul Bass done loads of tile sequences such as Around the world in Eighty days and Anatomy of Murder and it’s A Mad Mad World. I looked at all this title sequence and considering its not made by computer it is pretty good and is very well put together. Also it’s pretty simple but it works well and makes a good effect. Also the colours are not that bright but it still works and draws us in.
